Our goal is to engage our listeners in critical thinking about key concepts and core ideals to explore Israel’s past, understand its present, and imagine Israel’s future. Just as in the bible words have power to create meaning and reality, we hope this series of exploring 10 modern terms will help you gain a deeper understanding of Israel’s meaning and reality.  We will discuss how each concept or ideal has shaped Israeli identity, statehood, and sovereignty.  As you listen, consider that our goal is to help you forge your own informed opinions about whether Israel, the young experiment in Jewish sovereignty, is sustainable for the next century, what that could entail, and what the role for Israelis and Diaspora Jews might be in the process. We discuss each concept in current events and historical context, using primary sources to support our conversations. Each episode comes with a guide including additional resources and discussion prompts, responses from Dr. Scott Abramson of the Washington Institute for Near East Policy, and student and teacher submissions.
